Situated right where the Viennese plains end and the Alps begin to rise, the commons hub is surrounded by stunning natural sights and a nurturing cultural environment alike.

The Schneeberg and Rax Plateau provide ample opportunities for hiking, biking, rock climbing, rafting, kayaking, swimming and mushroom foraging. Over 2000 alpine climbing routes make the area a prime destination for adventurers and rock climbers from Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and beyond.

Although its imperial past is long gone, Reichenau an der Rax remains a cultural hub with two musical pavilions and a classical theatre. Its six-week summer festival features two daily plays, along with literature readings, classical music, and other artsy events. Other remnants of the monarchy are various imperial castles, mansions and villas, which account for the noble appearance of the town.
